Sports betting used to mean a trip to a casino or a call to a bookie. Now it's an app in your pocket, open 24/7, with live in-play odds, parlays, and constant promotions designed to keep you betting. For a lot of people, especially younger men, that's made a manageable habit impossible to control.
If you can't stop betting on sports, or you're watching someone you love lose themselves to it, Algamus can help.
We're one of the only residential programs in the U.S. dedicated solely to gambling addiction, and sports betting is the single most common problem we treat today. Give us a call and talk to one of our specialists to learn more.

Not sure where you land? Take our problem gambling self-assessment, or call us and we'll talk it through honestly.
A general drug-and-alcohol rehab that "also treats gambling" usually puts you in a mixed group where betting is one issue among many. Algamus is different:
You live onsite at our private home in Goodyear, Arizona, working daily with Internationally Certified Gambling Counselors and licensed therapists. Treatment is individualized and includes:
Our gambling addiction therapists will guide you in how to use the Enneagram method for self-exploration, healing, personal transformation, and growth.
Algamus operates out of a private residential home. The home includes:

Many people come to us because a parent, spouse, or partner reached out first and often that family member is the one helping make treatment happen.
If that's you, you're not overreacting. Our family program and support for loved ones are built around you, and the first call is free and confidential.
Algamus works with most major commercial insurance plans. What's covered and any out-of-pocket cost depend on your policy, so we verify your benefits for you, free and confidentially, before you commit. Private-pay and payment-plan options are available too. Verify your insurance →
We do not promise a cure. Gambling disorder is a chronic, relapsing condition, and any treatment center that promises otherwise is not telling you the truth.
What we can tell you, based on three decades of running this program:
Recovery is not a straight line, and you need to know that. Relapse, when it happens, is treated as data, not failure. Our alumni community and aftercare team are built specifically to catch these moments early.
I didn't take ownership of having a problem until I went to my first Algamus meeting...When they went around the room and each person described what their game of choice was and how they processed it emotionally and mentally, it was only at that moment that I said, “wow, they are like me.”
Algamus Client in Recovery
Algamus provided the information, support, and ongoing guidance necessary for me to successfully recover from my addiction. Without them I don’t know if I would be where I am today; 8 months later, free from my addiction for the first time in almost 20 years of struggle.
Algamus Client in Recovery
Algamus provided me the foundation needed to jump start my road to recovery. The programs, interactions with staff and group bonding put me on the path to a better way of life. The program truly saved my life!
Algamus Client in Recovery
Algamus saved my life and my family. It has taken a few years to earn back the trust and respect I had lost, but I am blessed to be healthier and happier than I would have believed possible.
A special "Thank you" to Rick Benson and crew. I'm humbled by the work that you do.

If you are struggling. If you are out of control. If you just want all the craziness of chasing money and falling further and further behind, to stop, let these good people help you! They are so well trained, many former gambling addicts themselves. They know what they're doing. All of my fellows in recovery had different patterns, styles and games and yet the staff worked wonders with them all. They knew the different types we were and how to maximize treatment effectiveness. Last I heard, we were all doing great post-rehab. I know I have placed my last bet in this lifetime."

Yes, sports betting, including parlays, in-play betting, and daily fantasy, is the most common problem we see. The treatment approach is the same as for any gambling disorder, with relapse-prevention work tailored to sports betting.
Residential is usually the right call if you've tried to stop on your own (or with GA or outpatient) and keep going back, if real consequences haven't stopped you, or if your daily environment is full of triggers. Call us and we'll tell you honestly which level of care fits.
DFS often functions the same way as sports betting and we treat it the same way. If it's taking over your life and finances, it qualifies.
We send a complete packing list before admission. In short: comfortable clothes, toiletries, any prescription medications in original bottles, government ID, insurance card. We do not allow alcohol, recreational drugs, weapons, or gambling materials. See the What to Bring guide for the full list.
Most commercial plans cover some portion of residential treatment for gambling disorder. We verify your specific benefits before you commit. We don't accept Medicare or Medicaid, but our team can discuss other options.
Yes. We do not disclose your status to your employer, family, or anyone else without your written consent.
Most clients are admitted within 3–10 days of the first call, and we can compress that for urgent situations or interventions.
Once sports betting becomes a full-fledged addiction, it can be very difficult to quit.
