Preparing for Your Stay

Taking the first step toward recovery is a significant decision, and we want to ensure you feel fully prepared for your time at Algamus. Below, you’ll find details on what to bring, what to expect during gambling treatment, and how to make the most of your experience with us.

What to Bring to Treatment

Packing for treatment doesn’t have to be stressful. Here’s a checklist of essentials to bring for your stay:

  • Comfortable clothing for therapy sessions and daily activities
  • Casual lounge and workout wear (you’ll have opportunities for exercise and wellness activities)
  • A watch (since cell phones are not permitted)
  • An alarm clock
  • Earplugs
  • Books or magazines
  • Personal photos
  • Music (MP3 player with no Wi-Fi capability)
  • A tote or gym bag
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, etc.) – towels are provided
  • Nicotine products (if applicable)
  • Any prescription medications (bring enough for the entirety of your stay, if possible)
  • Extra spendable cash, which will be securely held and distributed as needed

What Not to Bring to Treatment

To maintain a safe and focused environment, certain items are not allowed:

  • Any electronic devices with Wi-Fi capability

Phone Use Algamus

Phone Use

Cell phone use is prohibited unless justified by legitimate business needs, in which case phone use will be supervised by a staff member. The residence has a landline that clients can use to call home on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The first week is for acclimation so phone use even on the landline is prohibited unless otherwise approved pre-admission.

Your First Day at Algamus

From the moment you arrive, we want you to feel supported and at ease. You’ll be picked up at the airport and brought to the residence, where you’ll complete an initial intake process. After settling in, you’ll have the opportunity to make a call home before turning in your electronics, wallet and any devices with wifi capabilities. Once you're comfortable in your room, we’ll take a trip to the grocery store to pick up essentials for the week.

With the basics covered, take some time to unwind. Whether you prefer relaxing by the pool, gathering around the firepit, or enjoying the massage chair, we encourage you to get comfortable and begin your recovery journey with a clear and open mind.
