Algamus Gambling Recovery has been providing treatment for compulsive gambling and problem gaming for women and men since 1992.
Our mission is to create a safe environment for women that allows them to slow down and begin healing the effects of addictive gambling on them, their loved ones, and even friends and employers. At Algamus we recognize that compulsive gambling treatment needs to individualized which is why we offer female specific gambling programs for our female clients. Clients have the opportunity to share and heal, surrounded by other women in gambling recovery who can relate to their struggles.
Algamus is one of the only residential gambling treatment programs in the United States that treats gambling, and only gambling. Many on our staff are in recovery from compulsive gambling and understand the unique issues surrounding the gambling. We have a predominately female staff.
While both men and women can develop compulsive gambling problems or addictions, they tend to present themselves in different ways. Being able to participate in women's only gambling treatment sessions can help address the process addiction of gambling, as well as any potential emotional issues that the client may be experiencing in her life.
We are an intimate program and our staff to patient ratio is almost one to one.
Our 30-day+ residential gambling treatment program gently guides the addicted gambler into a place of acceptance and empowerment to make the behavioral changes needed to create a life free from gambling and other addictive behaviors. Some of our treatment modalities include:
- Cognitive & behavioral therapy;
- 12-Step programs like Gamblers Anonymous;
- Trauma resolution;
- Yoga & Meditation;
- Somatic Release;
- Equine therapy.
Our Masters Level Therapists and internationally certified gambling counselors use a 12–Step model accompanied by many other modalities to help our clients recreate the lives that have crashed down around them. Beyond regular women-only groups and frequent individual sessions with a primary therapist or counselor, clients will participate in day trips to surrounding areas like Sedona, a fitness regimen that includes weekly yoga sessions to enhance mindfulness and a gym membership, and equine-assisted psychotherapy with EAGALA trained Therapists.
We also offer a family program because a strong support system is critical in supporting recovery. Algamus offers family sessions and even a clinical family weekend workship to create strong networks and help the healing process. Your family is important and compulsive gambling commonly damages relationships with loved ones. We're here to help start the healing.
All of the above is offered in beautifully appointed family-style residences located in the pines of Prescott, Arizona.
