Family Educational Group for Gambling Addiction

For the loved ones of our Algamus patients, we offer a family group meeting every other week on Wednesdays. This meeting is held by Zoom. It is offered at two different times on Wednesdays, every other week so that we can meet the needs of those in various time zones. The group times are 9:30 am AZ and 4:30 pm EST.

The family group is open to all loved ones of both current and past or Alumni patients.

The group is not to be confused with a Gam-Anon group which is the family group related to Gambler’s Anonymous. The family group will complement Gam-Anon. The family group addresses understanding a gambling problem, defining and dealing with codependency and enabling, addressing money issues, differences and similarities between substance and process addictions, exchanging resources with others in the group and creating community with others going through similar situations.

Loved ones who have participated in the group share they have felt a sense of community and being understood, feel safe, have learned from others and increased their understanding of gambling disorders, learned what they can do to address the problem and what is out of their control, found strategies to support their loved one returning from treatment as well as many other positive comments about participating in this group.
